How We Make Money
The Energy Edit is free to read. To keep it that way and fund independent analysis, we earn money in a few ways. We think you’re entitled to know exactly how.
Affiliate links
Some articles contain affiliate links — for example to energy comparison services or to solar and heat-pump installers. If you click one and go on to sign up, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. We only include them where they’re genuinely relevant, and a link never changes our analysis or verdict.
Advertising
We display advertising on the site. Adverts are clearly distinguishable from our editorial content, and advertisers have no say over what we write.
Sponsored content and commissioned analysis
We sometimes publish sponsored articles or produce commissioned analysis for organisations in the energy sector. Whenever we do, it is clearly and prominently labelled as sponsored or commissioned, and it is kept entirely separate from our independent editorial. A commercial relationship never buys a favourable opinion in our editorial coverage.
Our promise
Commercial revenue keeps the lights on; it doesn’t write our conclusions. The principles behind that wall are set out in full in our Editorial Policy.
